John Brookman Firefighter of the Year Award

The nominee must meet the following criteria.

Dedication: The individual has demonstrated the highest degree of dedication and participation to the Lima Fire Department, including fire response, training, public education, and other fire service operations.

Loyalty: The individual has demonstrated allegiance to the Lima Fire Department and its members.  Is a team player who supports the Lima Fire Department by embracing its policies and procedures and engaging in behavior that will lead to improvements to the Lima Fire Department.

Productivity: Has gone well beyond the duties in a manner that exemplifies the competency that all firefighters should strive to achieve and reflect the highest standards of the Lima Fire Department.  Regularly demonstrates the ability to better serve the department and the community.

Professionalism: Performs fire service duties in a manner that exemplifies the competency that all firefighters should strive to achieve and which reflect the highest standards of the Lima Fire Department.  Demonstrates the ability to lead and follow, depending upon the circumstances.

The John Brookman Firefighter of the Year award is presented annually in October.  The award is given to an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty.  This individual is nominated by a fellow employee(s).  The final selection is made by the Lima Fire Chief.  Sertoma organizes the event and presents the award.
